Code of Conduct

LANPARTY2000 is meant to be a small, fun, low-drama retro LAN party. These rules keep it that way.

1. Respect everyone

Treat everyone at the event with basic respect. Trash talk about the game is fine. Personal attacks, harassment, intimidation, bullying, or hostile behavior are not.

2. Keep it friendly and inclusive

Everyone should be able to relax and enjoy the event. Discriminatory remarks or behavior based on race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, nationality, or anything similar are not acceptable.

3. The host's house rules apply

This is a LAN party held at a private home, not a public venue. Respect the space, follow instructions from the host, and remember that being invited is a privilege.

4. Respect equipment

Laptops and related equipment are provided for players. Treat all hardware carefully. Do not deliberately damage, modify, unplug, reconfigure, or install random software on the systems unless the host says it is okay.

5. No cheating or sabotage

Do not cheat, exploit, ghost, stream-snipe, screen-look on purpose, tamper with another player's settings, or interfere with the network or game setup. Competitive joking is part of LAN culture. Actually ruining the match is not.

6. Keep language under control

Some degree of excited yelling and classic LAN trash talk is expected, but keep it reasonable. Do not cross the line into abusive, threatening, or hateful language.

7. No unsafe or illegal behavior

Do not bring anything illegal, dangerous, or disruptive to the event. Do not do anything that creates a safety problem for the host or other guests.

8. Food, drinks, smoking

Drinks must have non-spillable lids (bottles preferred) so that we don't get any spills around laptops or on the hardwood floor. Food must be eaten in the kitchen or at the food table. Clean up after yourself. Do not leave a mess behind. If you make a mess and do not clean it up, you forfiet your event deposit and may be asked to leave.

There is no smoking/vaping on the premesis.

9. Privacy

Do not share someone else's personal information, photos, video, or private conversations without permission. Ask before posting pictures or clips from the event. The host may choose to use a private security system including the use of security cameras to ensure an orderly event.

10. Help keep the event running smoothly

Show up on time, communicate clearly if plans change, and do not create avoidable setup problems. With only 8 players, every seat matters.

11. Listen if there is a problem

If the host asks you to stop doing something, stop. If there is a conflict, the host makes the final call on how it is handled during the event.

12. Venue/Equipment Damages & Stealing

All participants are expected to respect the venue and the equipment within it. Any damage to, or theft of, the host's property, network equipment, furniture, or the belongings of other attendees is the responsibility of the individual responsible for the damage. Participants may be required to cover repair or replacement costs and may be asked to leave the event if necessary.

13. Consequences

Anyone who violates this code of conduct may receive a warning, be asked to change their behavior, be removed from the event, forfeit their deposit, and/or lose the ability to attend future LANPARTY2000 sessions.

In plain English

Be cool. Respect the house. Respect the people. Respect the gear. Play hard, laugh a lot, and do not make yourself the reason the event stops being fun.
